David Costa has a strong career both as performer (orchestra and chamber music player) and oboe teacher. He regularly plays with Lisbon Sinfonietta Orchestra and the Portuguese Chamber Orchestra. Throughout the years, David has played with several orchestras such as Gulbenkian, and worked with maestros Christopher Bochmann, Michael Zilm, Joana Carneiro, Vasco Pearce de Azevedo, Paavo Järvi, Günther Herbig, Gustavo Dudamel and Pedro Carneiro. Since 2003, David plays regularly with pianist Pedro Ferro.
He began his musical studies at the age of five and studied at Lisbon Nacional Conservatoire and later at Lisbon Music Superior School (performance degree and master in teaching). He has participated in masterclasses with Hänsjorg Schellenberger, Ernest Rombout, Christian Wetzel, Washington Barella e Omar Zoboli, among others.
David plays with a “Légende” oboe and is a Buffet Crampon artist for Portugal.
