Duo

Astrus Duo (saxophonist Manuel Teles and percussionist Paulo Amendoeira) started its activity in 2017. In 2019 they won a Young Musicians Award (Prémio Jovens Músicos). The Astrus Duo performs from North to South of Portugal, in venues such as Casa da Música or the Great Auditorium of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, but also in streaming broadcasts and recitals for radio Antena 2. In 2020 they recorded Escape, a digital album produced by Hugo Romano Guimarães, dedicated to the music of the composer Marc Mellits. In recent years, the duo has established close contact with several composers, such as Daniel Bernardes, Tõnu Kõrvits, Lino Guerreiro, Andrea Nicoli, Paulo Jorge Ferreira, João Pedro Oliveira, Telmo Marques, João Quinteiro and Marc Mellits. It is the Astrus Duo's mission to continue to work side by side with composers, in order to encourage, disseminate and develop new repertoires.
