Adriana Ferreira
Adriana Ferreira is Principal Flute of the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. Previously, she held the same position at the Rotterdam Philharmonic and served as Associate Principal Flute at the Orchestre National de France in Paris. Born in Cabeceiras de Basto, Portugal, she studied at ARTAVE with Joaquina Mota before joining the class of Sophie Cherrier and Vincent Lucas at the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP). She later continued her studies with Benoît Fromanger at the Hochschule Hanns Eisler Berlin and holds a degree in Musicology from the Paris-Sorbonne University.
At the age of 19, Adriana won First Prize, the Orchestra Prize, and the Young Jury’s Prize at the Carl Nielsen International Flute Competition (2010). She later received 3rd Prize at the Kobe International Flute Competition (2013), First Prize at the Severino Gazzelloni Competition (2014), and was joint top prize winner at the Geneva International Competition, where she also received the Coup de Cœur Breguet Special Prize.
