Assunção
Hugo Assunção (1969) studied trombone with Emídio Coutinho. He was part of the Portuguese Youth Orchestra and the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra. Since 1987 he has collaborated as a freelancer with Sinfónica Juvenil, Gulbenkian Orchestra, Régie Sinfonia, Lisbon Symphony, Matosinhos Jazz Orchestra. In 1988 he won the position of First Trombone Soloist in the São Carlos National Theater Orchestra, a place he occupied until its extinction in 1992. He was professor of Trombone and Chamber Music at the University of Aveiro, Porto Superior School of Music, Espinho Professional Music School. He has also been invited to teach masterclasses all over the country. He is currently a professor of Trombone and Chamber Music at the University of Évora and at the Piaget Institute in Almada. He has been, since 1993, First Trombone of the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra.
