Ana Cláudia de Assis is a researcher and performer of contemporary music. She has premiered many works by well-known composers such as Jonathan Harvey, Toru Takemitsu, Almeida Prado, Guerra-Peixe, Eunice Katunda, Hans-Joachim Koellreutter, Dante Grela, Sílvio Ferraz, João Pedro Oliveira, Roberto Victorio, Mario Mary, José Halac, Bruce Reicprich, among others. She has participated in many important festivals such as Bienais da Música Brasileira; Festival Brasilianischer Musik (Germany); Encontros de Compositores e Intérpretes Latino-Americanos (Brazil); Autumn Festivals (Portugal); Rencontre Internationale de Musiques Electroacoustiques (Monaco); Ai-Maako Festival Internacional de Música Electroacústica (Chile), Visiones Sonoras (Mexico), Skammdegi AIR Award (Iceland). She recorded several CDs with Brazilian and international contemporary music. Ana Cláudia also works as a pianist at the Oficina Música Viva new music ensemble, formed with the purpose of promoting contemporary music through concerts, conferences, recordings and masterclasses. She is Associate Professor at the University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte (Brazil), where she teaches piano, history of Brazilian music, and contemporary music interpretation.
