Alexander Stretile
Alexander Stretile began his musical studies at the age of 3 with teacher Olga Hehelskaya in Ukraine. In 2010 he entered the National Conservatory Music School, where he studied with Hélder Entrudo. He continued his studies at the University of Aveiro, where in 2020 he completed a Degree in Performance in the class of professor Shao Ling. From 2017 to the present, he studies at the “Aquiles Delle Vigne” International Music Academy with professor Manuel Araújo. He participated in masterclasses and studied occasionally with several teachers, such as Aquiles Delle Vigne, Jorge Moyano, Makoto Ueno, Lidia Stratulat, Nichlas Pokki, Paulo Gaio Lima, Marilyn Engle, Paul Wakabayashi, among others. Winner of several national and international competitions. He won 1st prize in competitions such as Kamyanka's “Tchaikovsky Competition”, “Virtuous Pianists” National Competition, “Cidade do Fundão” Competition, Czerny Competition at the Music School of the National Conservatory, Sardoal Jovem Talento Prize and Frederico de Freitas Prize. Laureate of “Cidade de Almada” competitions, São Teotónio National Competition, Hulak-Artemovsky International Competition. He won special prizes for “Best Portuguese participant” in the Coimbra World Piano Meeting and Viseu International Piano Competition. Performing regularly in concerts, Alexander Stretile has performed in venues such as Teatro Rivoli, Convento de São Francisco, Centro Cultural de Belém, Centro Cultural de Figueira da Foz, Convento dos Capuchos, Centro Cultural de Sardoal, Palácio da Foz, Museu Nacional Machado de Castro, Casa da Música, Aula Magna, António Fragoso's house, among others. He performed as a soloist with the Orquestra Clássica do Centro in 2018 at the Convento de São Francisco. He has collaborated in several orchestras and ensembles, such as the Symphonic Orchestra, the Wind Orchestra and the Contemporary Music group at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa; GNR Symphonic Band at FISP 16 and the “Foco Musical” orchestra. He has had several professional successes in chamber music, winning the “jovem.com” competition with trio TianoPrio, with whom he was invited to perform at the “Europa Season” Festival 2015 in Craiova. Winner of 3rd prize in piano duo with Rodrigo Ayala at the “2nd Taiwan International Piano Ensemble Competition”. He performs regularly in different formations, and for 2021 he is scheduled to perform Saint-Saens' “Carnival of Animals” with Catarina Madeira and the Orquestra Clássica do Centro. In addition to those mentioned above, solo performances are pre-scheduled at the Autumn Festival, “Viver ao Vivo” Festival, 1st Tchaikovsky Concerto with Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras and a recording of a collection of works by F. Côrrea de Oliveira scheduled for the beginning of Autumn. At the moment he combines careers as a soloist and pianist-accompanist, whose duties he performs at the Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas in Castelo Branco and at the Escola Profissional de Música de Covilhã. He is frequently requested by instrumentalists and institutions, having accompanied several choirs, auditions at Teatro de São Luiz at the University of Aveiro, masterclasses by Carla Caramujo at the Sardoal Festival and masterclasses by Wolfgang Holzmair in Coimbra.
