This project brings together the scores of pieces for piano and for toy piano that are part of Nocturno, a music and dance performance inspired by the mysteries, fears and fantasies that the night represents in the universe of children. Nocturno is a collaborative work by Joana Gama (pianist and co-creator), Victor Hugo Pontes (choreographer and co-creator), João Godinho (composer), Paulo Mota (dancer), Suse Ribeiro (sound design) and Wilma Moutinho (light design). It was premiered in March 2017 at the São Luiz Theater in Lisbon. This performance is a co-production of Nome Próprio, São Luiz Teatro Municipal / São Luiz Mais Novos, Teatro Municipal do Porto / Paralelo and Centro Cultural de Belém / Fábrica das Artes. All compositions are by João Godinho, except Ró-Ró, João Godinho‘s arrangement for piano and melodic instrument of a traditional Portuguese melody. Valsa do Fauno is a parody of prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune by Claude-Achille Debussy. These pieces are suitable for piano teaching at initiation, basic and secondary levels, presenting aesthetic diversity and different challenges for the performer. Changes were made to the scores after this recording.
