Youri Popov studied music at the Moscow Conservatory with Vera Khoroshina, later entering the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Moscow where she worked with E. Malinin. His concertist activity began when he was still a student. He was the first interpreter of Dimitri Kabalevsky's 4th Piano Concerto. Since 1998 he resides in Portugal. Since 2001 he has been working in duo with violinist Nuno Soares. He taught at the Viana do Castelo Music Academy. At present he works at the University of Aveiro, where he accompanies the violin class of Nuno Soares, as well as in the University of Minho.
