Susana Teixeira completed the singing course at the National Conservatory, Lisbon, Portugal, and s degree at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. Between 1988 and 1992, she received a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, having studied in Madrid with Isabel Penagos. She regularly attends training courses, having worked with Max von Egmont, Kurt Equiluz, Paul Esswood, Ludmilla Andrews and Norman White, Gundula Janovitz, Nico Castel, Jill Feldman, Ileana Cotrubas, Lorraine Nubar, Dalton Baldwin, Richard Miller and Rudolf Knoll. She recorded Schumann's Requiem für Mignon and Mendelsshon's Psalms with the Gulbenkian Choir and Orchestra under the direction of Michel Corboz, for the ERATO label. With Segréis de Lisboa, she recorded an album with works by Joaquim Casimiro Júnior, and with the group Vozes Alfonsinas she recorded In the Time of Troubadours, with Portuguese medieval music.
