Sinfónica Portuguesa

Created in 1993, OSP is one of the artistic bodies of Teatro Nacional de São Carlos and has been developing its own symphonic activity, including a regular schedule of concerts. Within the scope of other collaborations, it is also worth mentioning its presence in the following events: 8th Eurovision Tournament of Young Musicians broadcast by Eurovision to around fifteen countries (1996); closing concert of the 47th Festival Internacional de Música y Danza de Granada (1997); Opening Gala concert of the Frankfurt Book Fair; Expo 98 closing concert; Alicante Contemporary Music Festival (2000); and Mérida Classical Theater Festival (2003). OSP's discography includes two CD's for the Marco Polo label, with Symphonies n.º 1 and n.º 5, and n.º 3 and n.º 6, by Joly Braga Santos, which were recorded under the direction of its first principal conductor, Álvaro Cassuto.
