Filarmonia das Beiras

The Filarmonia das Beiras gave its first concert on December 15, 1997, under the direction of Fernando Eldoro, its first artistic director. Created within the scope of a government program for the constitution of a network of regional orchestras, its founders are several institutions and municipalities in the Beiras region. The orchestra is composed of 23 string musicians of different nationalities, with a young average age and, since 1999, it has been artistically directed by Maestro António Vassalo Lourenço.
