Portuguese baritone Luís Rodrigues studied at the Conservatório Nacional, Lisbon, and the Escola Superior de Música in Lisbon. A versatile performer, his career is centred around the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, but he also appears regularly in recital and has given many premieres of contemporary works. He received the Prémio Bordalo – Casa da Imprensa award for his interpretation of Semicúpio in the Portuguese Baroque opera Guerras do Alecrim e da Manjerona (Acarte, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, 2000), and has appeared with Os Músicos do Tejo in Almeida’s La Spinalba and Pergolesi’s Lo frate ’nnamorato.
