A Guimarães native, Portuguese musicologist José Maria Pedrosa Pedrosa Cardoso’s educational background features the National Conservatory School of Music and a doctorate in historical musicology. He was a teacher at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra. Possessing vast musical knowledge, he appeared as a guest speaker at conferences in Portugal and abroad, speaking mostly about sacred music and Portuguese historical music. He has written articles and chapters in several scientific journals and books.
