Hugo Vasco Reis (Lisbon, 1981) studied composition with Isabel Mundry, at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK) (MA in Composition), as a Nicati-de Luze (Switzerland) scholarship holder, with Stefan Prins and Mark André, at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden (MA in Composition) and at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (BA in Composition), with Sérgio Azevedo, Luís Tinoco and António Pinho Vargas. He had private classes and masterclasses with composers Toshio Hosokawa, Chaya Czernowin, Hans Tutschku, Dieter Ammann, Franck Bedrossian, Zigmunt Krauze, Åke Parmerud, Carola Bauckholt, Klaus Lang, Peter Ablinger, among others. His catalog contains around seventy works for orchestra, chamber music, solo music, electroacoustic and installations, and he was awarded several prizes. During his music studies, he studied electric guitar at the Oporto's Jazz School and portuguese guitar at the Conservatório de Música do Porto and in Pedro Caldeira Cabral’s private class.
