Costa Araújo
Helena Costa Araújo teaches at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto, Portugal. As Full Professor she taught sociology of education, gender studies and citizenship and diversity. She directed the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education (CIIE), hosted by FPCEUP, between 2010 and 2020, leadind the team that achieved 'Excellent' to CIIE at the Portuguese R&D Units research evaluation process (2018-2019). Her main research interests are education as social right, school disengagement, young people biographies and pathways, gender, education, and citizenship, intercultural education. She has carried out a number of research projects in these issues. She was the Portuguese team coordinator of the European Commission’s FP7 large-scale project 'RESL.eu, Reducing Early School Leaving in the EU' (2013-2018). Recent publications include articles in Studies in Higher Education, Educational Review and European Educational Research Journal.
