Martins
Francisco Martins (1617?-1680) studied in Évora with Manuel Rebelo. He was mestre de capela of the Cathedral of Elvas. His musical work can be found in two choir books that belonged to this cathedral, containing two masses, responsories for Holy Week, psalms and hymns, being currently deposited in the Municipal Library of this city, which also has another manuscript containing the Ditos de Cristo of the Passions of Holy Week. There is also a five-voice motet, Domine, tu mihi lavas pedes? preserved in the musical archive of the Sé de Évora and a vilancico for two voices preserved in the Public Library of the same city. No portrait of him has survived.
