Ensemble MPMP is a flexible instrumentation group that has been developing, since 2012, several projects with both musicologists and composers. Its aim is to rediscover the past heritage and to enhance contemporary repertoires. Ensemble MPMP played under the artistic direction of Jan Wierzba at the Young Musicians Award Festival (Centro Cultural de Belém, 2013, and Gulbenkian Foundation, 2015) and at the São Roque Festival (2013, 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018), having made the modern première of works by Marcos Portugal (1762-1830), João José Baldi (1770-1816), D. Pedro IV (1798-1834), Joaquim Casimiro Júnior (1808-1862), Francisco Norberto dos Santos Pinto (1815-1860), Francisco by Freitas Gazul (1842-1925) and Augusto Machado (1845-1924), among others. In 2015 he produced two operas at the Municipal Theaters of Almada and Porto. Recently, he participated in the 2017 Dias da Música Festival (Centro Cultural de Belém), presenting João Domingos Bomtempo's Requiem to the memory of Camões, an event that was broadcast on television by RTP. Its wind quintet went to Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, in 2021, presenting Lopes-Graça's O túmulo de Villa-Lobos, which has been previously recorded in CD, at the Sala Cecília Meireles.
